Feedback from participants

The training was useful, we will try to apply it in practice. I think we will still need to practice a lot in the team, because there are many nuances and complexities, but the ideas themselves are very intriguing and it seems that we will benefit a lot.

Raimondas Bučius, Product Owner at Telesoftas

About training

Are you having trouble breaking down your user stories into small but valuable pieces? Are you having trouble prioritizing user stories or agreeing with business stakeholders on commitments to what they want to achieve? Are you having trouble deciding when a user story is done, or how many more stories you really need to achieve a business goal? Are you managing a large number of stories that are difficult to evaluate, prioritize, or plan? If so, join this interactive training and invite your product owners and business sponsors to learn how to get the most out of your user stories.

Gojko Adzic will present some simple yet incredibly effective ways that industry-leading teams apply to their user stories to make them significantly more effective. Come and learn how to ensure that the things that come out of your workflow are well-defined, broken down to be small enough but valuable, and that you can achieve the many benefits of adaptive planning and what you can expect from great user stories.

What is the training for?

This is a seminar aimed at a broad audience, primarily senior business and technical roles, as well as those working in iterative (Agile / Lean / Scrum / Kanban) development teams with user stories:

  • Business representatives will learn how to ensure that their organization gets more out of the possibilities of Agile teamwork, and how to better oversee product management and development to achieve strategic goals faster.

  • Analysts and product owners will learn how to more effectively connect business representatives with teams, how to select user stories, functionalities and prioritize them to achieve better impact

  • The development team and testers will learn to connect with business stakeholders and product owners to get clearer direction and be able to focus on the things that really matter

About training

2-day live training based on Gojko Adzic's books "Fifty Quick Ideas To Improve Your User Stories", "Impact Mapping" and years of experience helping teams build better software.

During this course you will learn how to:

  • Dealing with a massive to-do list of 500 mindless tasks

  • Set priorities when working with multiple competing stakeholders

  • Avoid uncontrolled movement of user stories and create a big picture so you can prioritize

  • Create a good structure for performance reporting, not just tracking activity speed and activities

  • Agree with the entire team and business representatives which user stories are valuable and which are just noise

  • Empower business representatives to win by using flexible project scope and avoid water-scrum-fall

  • Effectively prioritize based on value

  • Conduct Impact Mapping sessions

  • Share “unshareable” user stories and ensure tasks are small enough but still actually valuable

  • Avoid getting stuck in “technical stories”

  • Plan an effective release based on user story maps

  • Avoid "pet features"

  • Conduct User Story Mapping sessions.

What certificate will I receive?

Training participants will receive a certificate of participation in the "Product Owner Key Skills: Impact Mapping, Story Mapping and Valuable User Stories" workshop.
